I like *antidotes*, taking the opposite extreme of what is *bugging* me to get beyond it; so I think developing patience and compassion might help as well. "Anger destroys all the good conduct, such as generosity and worshiping the Sugatas, that has been acquired over thousands of eons" ~Shantideva's Bodhicaryavatara, Chp 6, The Perfection of Patience (this particular writing of Shantideva's is supposedly THE most highly revered treatise in Tibetan Buddhism - after having read it, I understand why ~ wonderful!) Also since every sentient being at one time or another has been our mother or father, why not have compassion for them even in their current state? One that pushes the envelop for me is perhaps I am experiencing this (whatever the undersireable situation may be) as a result of some misdeed I performed in the past, so this could be the ripening of karma which in itself is a good thing, and of what use would it be to create more by behaving in a manner which could create more suffering? (I don't take this as an obligation to simply take it all in, rather to closely analyze the situation because if the cause of the undesireable situation is the action(s) of other(s) who will harm even more than just myself, perhaps they need to be stopped). Lastly I have found that some sort of exposure to the Medicine Buddha seems to have an effect similar to throwing a steak to a malicious guard dog. Ultimately what your Lama recommends is best for you.
